Update Your Display Driver

You have rolled back your drivers and also tried reinstalling them, however Windows 10 still is not detecting your second monitor. So, now it’s time to update your display drivers.

You can update your Display driver in 3 ways:

  1. Through Device Manager
  2. Through the Device Manufacturer website.
  3. Through a dedicated driver updater tool.

Out of these three methods, the first method will not always help you to get the latest updates for the outdated drivers. The second method although helps you in getting the latest drivers however the process is completely manual, however, the third step in which we use a dedicated driver updater tool is the best method in which you will get the latest drivers and that too automatically.

Update Display Driver through Device Manager

To update display driver through Device Manager follow the steps given below:

  1. Press Windows + R key to open the Run Command box.
  2. Now type devmgmt.msc and press Enter key. This will open the Device Manager on your screen.
  3. On the Device Manager screen double click on the Display Adapter to expand it.
  4. Now right click on the Graphics adapter and from the drop down menu select Update driver option.

  5. On the next screen that asks you on how you want to search for drivers, select the first option, Search automatically for updated driver software.
  6. Now Windows will automatically search for the latest drivers on your PC and on the Internet.
  7. If it finds the one, follow the onscreen instruction to update your driver. Once done restart your computer for the new driver to get into effect.

Hopefully, this will fix the problem of the second monitor not detecting on Windows.

Update Display Driver through Manufactures Website

Another way to get the latest updated driver for your computer is checking the device manufacturer website for the latest update.

Updating the drivers through Device Manager or Windows Updates will basically not provide you with the latest drivers that are present on the manufacturer website. So it may be possible that you will always remain with an outdated driver if you rely on the Device Manager to get the driver updates.

Therefore, to get the latest display driver for your computer you have to visit the manufacturer website directly and download the updates from there. Below we are providing you with some manufacturer’s website link to download the drivers directly from there.

NVIDIA

AMD

However, before downloading the drivers from the manufacturer website you have to take care of the following things: name of the graphics card installed, version and series of graphics card, name and version(32 or 64 bit) of the operating system installed on your PC.

If you are not sure about any of these, then downloading the driver from the manufacturer website can be a risky affair. As if you end up getting an incompatible driver then it can even crash your computer.

So if you are not sure of the name/version number of the driver and operating system then we strongly recommend you to try a dedicated driver updater tool.
