According to the Vox report, children living in low and middle-income countries were found to have a significantly greater chance of having high lead levels in their blood relative to kids in Flint. That comparison applied even if you focused only on the lead levels of the children in Flint back when the crisis was at its peak.

The increase in risk level for children in those developing countries is also far from marginal. Per the report, children from those countries were said to be 10 times likelier to have elevated levels of lead in their blood compared to children in Flint. Although the threat of lead poisoning has been minimized significantly in some parts of the world, it remains a real threat in others. More work must be done to eliminate that issue for good.

The Sources of Lead

That’s mainly because even the experts are still not completely sure of where the lead is coming from. Those are just some of the known sources of lead exposure in this day and age. It’s still possible that people are being exposed in other ways.
