All modern-shoppers are spoiled by the number of choices they get every sale period. Be it a summer sale or a pre-Christmas bonanza – opportunistic shoppers rarely fail to make the most of these sale periods.
Black Friday and Cyber Mondays are two events that shoppers look forward to the most. In 2018, Cyber Monday earned sellers $7.9 billion. There’s no doubt that for discount hunters, there’s no better time to acquire PCs and PC components than Black Fridays or Cyber Mondays.
The discounts that shoppers receive depends on the component they purchase and the brands they engage with. Sometimes, certain pieces of hardware aren’t even on sale. That’s why shoppers shouldn’t only depend on Black Fridays or Cyber Mondays to purchase PC components. Here are some other sales periods they should consider –
Recurring Yearly Sales
Many sales pop-up every year. Both online and offline tech retailers have realized that shoppers are aware of these periods. That’s why almost every month, there’s a new sale to look forward to. Some of the most exciting sales periods other than Black Friday or Cyber Monday include –
- The ‘back to school’ sales are designed to attract students returning to school or college after their summer break.
- Valentine’s Day sales attract couples and families to purchase tech products at discount prices.
- Labor Day sales are very common in some countries.
- Seasonal sales, like summer or winter sales, are also periods when the prices of PC components are lowered.
Daily Deals
Some of the top computer shops in Dubai offer both yearly and daily deals. Shoppers must monitor these stores to get surprising bargains. The deals typically change every day, and pretty much any tech device, PC component, or accessory might be on sale. These types of offers aren’t designed to attract hordes of shoppers every day. Instead, they help stores build caring communities.
Even if shoppers don’t purchase something every day, at least they’re checking out the store and the daily deals. Plus, shoppers have no clue what tech item will go on sale on what day. But, if they’re patient and consistent, they can get a product they need for a great discount.
The Product Transitioning Period
People who aren’t too fussed about getting the newest components can make the most of product transitioning periods where new tech items are launched and the old ones’ experience price cuts. These ‘generational transition’ periods force sellers to get rid of old stock. That’s why they offer slightly outdated tech components for very low prices.
Except for the March to June period, there are transition periods for various components pretty much every month of the year. Shoppers must stay up to speed about these transitional periods by constantly checking the prices of the products/components they need.
Preparing for the Next Sale – What Components to Buy?
The 2020 shopping season will see Americans spend close to $148.5 billion. But, should the average shopper of PC parts look to splurge heavily during this sales period? Some components are usually very expensive throughout the year, except for during these sales periods. Acquiring these components does make sense. But, not all components are moderately-priced during the shopping season. Here’s a guide –
- Motherboards – Don’t wait. Motherboards are usually very expensive. But, the high cost of motherboards doesn’t diminish its demand throughout the year. Unless shoppers have specific brand loyalties, they can get amazing bargains on these usually expensive components and ‘win the lottery.’
- Graphics Card – Don’t wait. If shoppers see a high-end GPU during the sales season, they should get it. Unless there’s a hurry to buy, waiting for the sales season to commence is a great strategy for GPU shoppers. Usually, the GPUs that are brand-new don’t come with discounts during the sales season. However, if free games or other components are on offer with the brand-new GPUs, it’s highly unlikely that tech shoppers will get a better deal throughout the year.
- CPU Coolers – Wait. The possibility of getting amazing discounts on CPU coolers is very low. Yes, during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, many closed-loop models are on sale for discounted prices. But the discount amount is very low. Instead, shoppers should wait for daily deals.
- Hard Disks- Wait. The best hard-disk drives in the market (with a capacity of 2TB or higher) aren’t usually available for steep discounts, even during Cyber Mondays. That’s because high-capacity drives have a huge demand. The sellers know that they don’t need to offer discounts to attract takers.
Some PC components that almost always experience price-cuts during the sales season include – RAM, PC Cases, and Monitors (4k monitors in particular).
Cutthroat bargain hunters who are aiming to make the most of these sales need to set their priorities straight. Instead of depending on these sales to get all of their PC parts, they must shop strategically.
