In a test in New Jersey, customers were ready to make long-distance calls within the US directly, without the help of an operator. First 911 call was made on February 16, 1968

The first 911 call was made in Alabama. AT&T announced plans to put a system in place but an independent company, Alabama telephone completed the system first. The numerical 911 was chosen because it was easy to remember and it was not an already used area code for any area in Canada or the U.S. This is significant because it was the creation of a system that saves many lives.

First portable cell phone call is made on January 01,1973

The first portable cell phone was developed by Martin Cooper of Motorola to his research rival at Bell Labs, Joel Engel. Cooper’s was the primary one who invented for truly portable use and was awarded a patent in 1975. This was significant because that paved way for incredible things today.
