Kernel Mode Heap Corruption Error | Fixed

The worst error to have on a Windows PC is a blue screen with an error named as KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION. Even though it is a most common error that occurs in the system, still, we will be removing it so that it won’t happen in the first place. What is the Kernel Mode Heap Corruption?

Kernel Mode Heap Corruption is a stop code presented by Windows when you run into a ‘blue screen error of death’ BSOD error. The error is caused by driver issues or software conflicts, but it may also be caused by hardware malfunction.

How to solve the problem?

After working several hours, our team got many fixes to the problem which are tried and tested on many users and gladly it worked very fine. Here is a list of all the 6 fixes. The following methods are so easy to follow that even if a person is a newbie, still the problem can be fixed by following the steps given below.

#1 Rolling back to graphics card drivers

  • Press Windows + R to open the run dialog box.
  • Type devmgmt.msc.
  • Click ok.
  • A new window will open which contains information about all the installed drivers and their hardware. It is called the Device Manager.
  • Now move to the display adapters.
  • Right click to enter its properties.
  • Move to driver tab and select roll back driver.
  • Select any reason which is more relevant to your situation and click yes.

Restart the PC to see if the solution worked.

#2 Updating the device drivers

There is a high possibility that the mouse drivers are outdated that may be causing the error or maybe wrong drivers to have been in your system.

Method 1

For this, Install the correct mouse driver from the official website of the manufacturer.

  • Fill in the correct details of the brand of driver present in the system.
  • Make sure it matches your computer architecture system.

Method 2

      If you are a newbie and still cannot find the relevant details about the mouse driver. This method will surely help you with that.

Down the Driver Easy software from here.

  • Run the software and click the Scan Now It will scan for all the outdated or corrupted drivers and present a list of all.
  • Click Update All after buying the Pro version with a minimum charge.

          Restart the computer to make sure the problem is fixed.

#3 Repair the Corrupted files

Method 1 (Using sfc service)

  • On the keyboard, press windows key + R.
  • This will open the Run dialog box.
  • Type cmd.
  • Now press ctrl,shift,and enter to run command prompt.
  • It will run it as an administrator.
  • Click yes in the prompt.
  • In the new screen of black color, type sfc /scannow.
  • Hit enter.
  • It will scan all the system files and repairs the corrupted one automatically.
  • After the process, restart the computer.

Method 2 (Scan using dism.exe)

  • On the keyboard, press windows key + R.
  • This will open the Run dialog box.
  • Type cmd.
  • Now press ctrl,shift,and enter to run command prompt.
  • It will run it as an administrator.
  • Click yes in the prompt.
  • In the new screen of black color, type exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth.
  • Hit enter.

Restart the computer if the method worked, if not, follow the next method.

#4 Solve software-based issue

Sometimes a software issue also causes the error to turn up on a user’s screen. If this the case, first let us check it and then solve it using necessary fixes.

  • On the keyboard, press windows key + X.
  • Click task manager.
  • On the processes tab, select the program that is causing the trouble.
  • In the bottom of the screen, click end task.
  • If the issue is still not fixed, follow the steps in continuation below.
  • Close a program by using end task one by one and after each, observe any crashes occurring.
  • Repeat the steps for all the programs.
  • At the end after finding out the specific program which is causing the issue and uninstall the program.
  • To uninstall, click the control panel.
  • Move in the Uninstall a program.
  • Uninstall the selected program.

Set low priority

  • On the keyboard, press windows key + R.
  • This will open the Run dialog box.
  • Open task manager by typing
  • Set priority> Low.

#5 Resolving any hardware issue

Some users might get Kernel Mode Heap Corruption due to some hardware problems in the system. Follow the steps to know if this is the case.

 Method 1

  • On the keyboard, press windows key + R.
  • This will open the Run dialog box.
  • Open windows diagnostic tool by typing mdsched.exe.
  • Now, select the restart now and check for problems option.
  • A restart will be required and after the usual boot, it will run with a blue dull screen unlike any windows process.
  • See if the problem is fixed else move on to the next method.

Method 2

  • Check for overheating as sometimes, it can lead system to automatically reach a saving mode.
  • if a certain amount of more heat is observed than the regular, contact the manufacturer.

#6 Reinstalling the Windows

If all of the above fixes worked for a few boot ups or never really worked, there are chances that a permanent damage has been caused to the system files which are causing the issue.

Resetting is also an option to get rid of the problem. It will erase all the files that are cached or did not come installed in the PC. There will be options regarding the backup or certain files to be kept or not.

A clean installation of Windows will surely help get rid of the problem as it will delete everything that was not in the system during the fresh installation. One can download it or flash it using the USB device.
